How does it work?

Should I block GPTBot?

Blocking GPTBot stops OpenAI using your pages for training. OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User are what ChatGPT uses to find and cite pages in answers, so most businesses keep those allowed.

Why does a bot show blocked when robots.txt allows it?

Your firewall or CDN (for example Cloudflare bot protection) may block or challenge it. That stops AI tools reading the page even when robots.txt says yes.

How often should I check?

After any change to robots.txt, your CDN or security plugins, and once a month as a habit.
